CNEC Member Releases Study on NEC Crisis and Hudson River Rail Tunnel

The Regional Plan Association (RPA), a CNEC member, recently released an important and timely report -- "A Preventable Crisis: The Economic and Human Costs of a Hudson River Rail Tunnel Shutdown."

This report looks at the impacts of a potential partial shutdown of the Hudson River rail tunnel. While a shutdown is not planned right now, the possibility is becoming increasingly likely.

The tunnel is the only passenger rail link that connects Manhattan, the nation’s largest job center, with its western suburbs. It is also a bottleneck for the Northeast Corridor running from Washington, DC to Boston, by far the most heavily used intercity rail line in the United States.
